Taylor’s teaching philosophy is simple: If a player can master certain essential skills and bridge the gap between training and performing on the course, they can play better golf. He also insists that his students work hard, have fun, and enjoy themselves throughout that process.

Taylor began playing golf at a young age and eventually went on to study Business and PGA Golf Management at the University of Idaho where he graduated with honors and his Class-A PGA membership. In the program, Taylor found his love for teaching and for competitive golf. During his tenure there he became one of the top players in the program and competed in 2014 in the PGA Jones Cup, an annual national tournament held at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. Taylor shot the low total score for his team.

As a former Jim McLean Master Instructor, Taylor’s teaching style and philosophy was shaped around in-depth study of the golf swing and what the best players in history have done as they play the game. Learning under Jim and working with him during clinics, golf schools, and private lessons with PGA Tour players taught him what it takes to be a world-class teacher. Further influencers include “Top 100” teachers Butch Harmon, James Sieckmann, Brian Mogg, and Rick Smith. Taylor also found mentors in “Best Young” instructors Joey Wuertemberger, Jason Guss, and Grayson Zacker.

The most important lesson he has picked up is to never stop learning. Taylor continues to improve and educate himself through personal research and reading as well as traveling to seminars and summits around the country. Some of these include Dr. Kwon, Mark Blackburn, Shawn Humphries, Brandel Chamblee, Scott Cowx, and Scott Fawcett of DECADE Golf. His certifications include Titleist Performance Institute Level 1, Swing Catalyst Level 1, and CAPTO Putting Levels 1 & 2 Instructor Certification. He also uses leading technologies in his teaching including Trackman, SAM PuttLab, CAPTO, BodiTrak, and high speed video combined with JC Video analysis software.

Taylor has experience teaching all levels and all types of players, from beginners to advanced competitive players including men, women, and juniors of all ages.
